TRYPOPHOBIA
Immersion Therapy:

Trypophobia is the unexplainable fear of dots and holes. I wanted to study this phenomenon and explore the extent of my fear. The only test that seemed right was to perform a series of exercises and record my findings. The purpose of this exercise was to take control of my phobia. Here is my process:

Stage 1: Admit that I have a problem.

Stage 2: Face my fears. I started by making as many holes and as many dots as I could stand and recorded my reactions and experiences that took place during each experiment.

Stage 3: Expose myself by being around dots and holes at all times ex, I put dots on my underwear and bought polka dotted bed sheets. I created a world for myself where at any time, day or night I was in direct contact with my phobia.

I recorded my experiments and then created a series of posters that referred to my process. Each poster had an overlay of holes that I created as a way to embrace my phobia. Viewers were invited to lift and interact with the overlay in order to get to the message and research behind it.
