Artist Statement
“For the artist communication with nature remains the most essential condition. The artist is human; himself nature; part of nature within natural space.” Paul Klee
Residency at Karbath 02 in many senses proved a thematic extension of the subjects that cultivate my creative practice: sublime, ecology and landscape. This enriching experience started with the photography of the mesmerizing beauty of sunset and sunrise; the scenes I have probably never encountered in my entire life while living in Lahore. Even though the residency is over, the experience of photographing itself and the images captured in this experience are so awe-inspiring that my thoughts are still stirring me. Though the time of the residency was same when the two atomic powers, Pakistan and India, were at the brink of a full-fledged war and the emotions were touching their peak, the natural sublimity of the rural suburbs let mind and body get engrossed within. The triptych landscape is the response of that communion with the natural space.
