Amnesty International Campaign — Phase Two

Campaign for Amnesty International
Topic: "Migrants: Borders and Refugees"

Goal: Create a campaign using various media for Amnesty International on the subject of migration in regards to refugees and asylum-seekers. Highlight a specific aspect of the broader subject and provide information and a call to action in a clear and engaging manner.

Campaign:
Phase Two of Five: Poster
On the subject of child refugees

This poster was inspired by the harmful dialogue heard too often when discussing refugees. Many harmful labels are used, often by politicians, to describe these humans who are simply looking for safety and refuge. Worst of all, they apply these words to innocent children when in fact they make up almost one third of the refugee population. This poster draws from Donald Trump's 2016 presidential election campaign, when he used words such as "criminals," "rapists," and "terrorists" to describe migrants who wished to cross the United States' southern border. A hand-drawn look was used to portray the idea that a child had used a marker or crayon to cross out the slurs and write in the correct word, "children."

A group of color variations was developed to create a poster series.
