A Collaboration With Textile Student Julia Little
Each designer was assigned a digital print created by a student in the textiles department. The challenge was to find and execute a design solution that aesthetically honored the print itself. I experimented with shirring a certain motif to create a structure that mimics the rose colored husks in the print while placing lines of an accent color to guide the eye around the body. The resulting ensemble centers on the harmony of organic and rigid since the organic subject of the print, corn, is laid in a rigidly noticeable repeat.
The piece was juried into the RISD Collection 2013 fashion show by a panel of critics from the industry.
