Congress Invitation & Branding for Lausanne

Branding: The Lausanne Movement
III Lausanne World Congress held in Cape Town 2010
The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization (Lausanne III) was held in Cape Town, South Africa, 16-25 October 2010.  The Congress, was held in collaboration with the World Evangelical Alliance, and brought together 4,000 leaders from more than 200 countries to confront critical issues of this time – world faiths, poverty, HIV/AIDS, persecution, among others - as they relate to the future of the Church and evangelization.

I was invited to a pitch by the organisation in 2009. My approach seemed to be the desired look & feel and I was asked to design not only the initial invitation and stationery, but also the branding for the congress.

The challenge was to capture the theme in a way that speaks to both theologian and artist. The congress logo, the continent of Africa (being the host-continent) was crafted out of 8 different representing languages that all depict a specific part of the theme verse, 2 Corinthians 5:19. The invitation was embossed on matt Munken paper and we used one spot colour for the red stripe.

Everything from stationery, booklets, to brochures, signage, badges and usher uniforms were designed.
This was a multi-dimensional project and there was an unbelievable amount of artists and creatives involved in the final affair. My part was to create a 'skin' or platform for the week long event and to give it a certain identity in order to hold together a multi-cultural event.
