May 14th, 2007, all maidens in Taipei became stardust and went back into the universe where they belong to. It is another small-scale species extinction in human history, or a literary euphemism of a mass suicide.

A friend of mine recommended me the novel The Virgin Suicides. Five young sisters committed suicide. Recently, a lot of young women killed themselves. Some are friends I had, others celebrities I grew up knowing. For uncertain reasons, suicide of maidens have a unique sense of romance, sadness, and graceful violence. In recent years, a lot of art pieces discuss the topic of women's extinction on earth, including indie game LISA, film Light of My Life, and music video Reverie. They all feel apocalyptically romantic.
