Seeing AI has a number of features and relies on increasingly advanced mobile technologies to complete multiple tasks for its users. Among the simplest tasks is text narration, in which the app reads any text that appears on the screen. In addition, the app can find and read bar codes to identify products, identify a currency's denomination, and even recognize people by scanning their faces.

The app has a number of experimental features, such as the ability to describe the environment via the mobile device’s camera. It can also read handwritten as well as printed text, and recognize surrounding light levels.
