Collaborative Typeface Book
Editorial Design, Illustration, Story Writing, Book Binding - School Project (2018)
Educational book design project for 19 chosen typefaces: Book cover and signature of Helvetica was designed by Manami Izawa. My classmates joined the creative journey, contributing their signatures to the mix.
To emphasize the deliberate handmade essence of Helvetica, I employed an artistic strategy that involved playing with dimensions, light, and shadows within the graphics. This technique aimed to evoke a sense of sensitivity and tactile craftsmanship, ultimately accentuating the human touch that lies at the heart of Helvetica's design. We used Coptic Stitch Bookbinding to showcase the value of handmade books and the art of craftsmanship throughout the project.
