BRAINSTORMING
After selecting the groups, we had a couple days to think about our phrase and we came up with "TRY SOMETHING NEW".
SKETCHING IDEAS (Liliana)
The three of us brainstormed ideas and chose ideas from Liliana's idea sketches.

I sketched 5 different ideas for the letters which was a total of 15 sketches. For TRY, we decided to have the word floating with ink, and for SOMETHING, we decided to carve in banana's, and for NEW, we decided to spell the word out using books. And after the chosen ideas, I did a final sketch of the idea.
CREATING THE LETTERS (all of us)
TRY: We got three separate letters from Michael's to spell out TRY. We used a fish tank and ink to take the photo. In the process of it, we decided to make the letters float because of a black plastic rim around the tank that would show in the photo. So by using a clear fish net and some tape, we made the letters float. We used blue and yellow ink for TRY and ended up adding purple ink at the end.
SOMETHING: The second letter was easier to do because all we had to do was carve in the letters in the banana. To write the letters, we used pencils with a blue background.
NEW: For the third letter, we borrowed books from the library and stacked 2-3 books per letter and then made the letters. we used different colored books for different letters. N was in orange, E was in purple, and W was in green. The N was easy to do but the E was harder since we had to do put objects between the E's to make the 3 horizontal lines float. The W was a challenge too because we had to tape the end of the W to make it slanted.

PHOTOGRAPHING THE LETTERS (Jason)
For all of the photos, I choose a scene/background, properly light the scenes, and adjusted light and camera settings to reach a desired effect and level of light. I kept in mind that the different shadows and tried to light them from multiple angles. Then, I took a couple photos and adjusted a few more things and then took some more.
PHOTOSHOPPING THE LETTERS (Henry)
I chose the most centered and clear photos from each of the three photo shoots. I then cropped them and adjusted the exposure (including shadows and highlights and colors) to get the photos looking good and vivid. I then had to remove the strings and tape used to set up some of our letters using photoshop. It was a long process,  but this extra work made the final product look much cleaner.
