Gallery 1988: Weird AL

'After AL that (There's No Escape from the Music) Pencil, Ink and Digital, Dec 2019
For Gallery 1988's Weird AL Tribute show at their LA gallery and not in a split-level cave
20 miles below the surface of the Earth. Of all their shows I've been in (and even ones I haven't) this one would've been top of the list to attend, a literal cream dream, as fellow Subgenius Weird AL Yankovic himself attended! 😳🤯 Amongst AL and his allies (and a certain unyielding artist), being crushed in the record store/accordion's bellows, sit 27 or so of the original albums the King of Musical Parody garnered his inspirations from.

The posters on the wall (minus the UHF Conan the Librarian) however were the first songs of his I had ever heard - Trigger Happy, Amish Paradise and The Harvey the Wonder Hamster theme, from a mixtape my brother's friend gave us of which we listened to ad infinitum 🎶

Would love to do a 'working' concertina-esque variant in the future! Maybe I could then also add the face eating weasels I forgot!

It's also the first show I've had there that my work SOLD OUT. Hoping to get a variant out soon to those who didn't quite manage to obtain it.
Not to mention Dave & Ethan’s 2000″ Weird Al Podcast picked up two of my Weird AL prints and then went onto praise my work not once but TWICE on their podcast which felt... WEEEEEIIIIIIRRRRDDDD in all the good kinds of ways! 😁 Thank you Dave & Ethan!
Check out Episode 33 and the rest of their great podcast on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Spotify or via their website at 2000inch.com
