Lesley Friedman Bodzy's profile

An Overview of MFA Opportunities at SAIC

Lesley Friedman Bodzy has spent the last decade as an artist based in New York City and Houston. Drawing on her experience studying under painters such as Gabriele Evertz and Valerie Jaudon, Lesley Friedman Bodzy is working towards a master of fine arts degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) provides students with a depth of academic paths at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including several options for the master of fine arts (MFA) degree. The MFA in Studio degree offers a broad spectrum of specialties, from painting and drawing to architecture, interior architecture, and designed objects. The Department of Painting and Drawing at SAIC is further comprised of courses on numerous design philosophies and techniques, though much of the coursework emphasizes experimental consideration for modern painting. Additional studio degree paths emphasize ceramics and photography, as well as a low-residency MFA program.

Coursework within the two-year MFA in Writing degree is similarly varied, offering a curriculum as comprehensive as it is flexible. Classes are tailored to writers in every style, including playwrights and poets as well as fiction and non-fiction writers. The program also welcomes visual artists who incorporate language and the written word into their work. To learn more about MFA opportunities at SAIC, please visit www.saic.edu.
