I created this MBTA Map re-design for an Infographic Design class at Boston University. It takes a stylish yet functional approach to correcting some of the 'flaws' of the original MBTA map.

My main idea for this new map was to have a central hub, something the current map lacks. A key feature of the MBTA is that one can transfer to most other lines from Park Street. Since this knowledge is pertinent to getting around Boston, I made it very clear on the re-design.

I set the subway lines against a plain white background for increased emphasis on the MBTA routes. It is indeed a bit less geographically accurate but the typographical information isn’t crucial to the map’s function, especially since one spends the majority of their time on the T underground.

I made each stop, end point, and transfer very clear to address the main concerns of MBTA riders. The end result is a clean, uncomplicated map.
