Footsteps of History
Last March, I spent some time in Barcelona taking in the culture, traditions, and scenery.Ā

My favorite experience was arriving to the Cathedral of Barcelona in the early hours of the morning.Ā
This Gothic cathedral was built during the 13th - 15th centuries. I wanted to arrive early toĀ avoid foot traffic that such a popular destination attracts.Ā What I got was even better.Ā
Having the area to myself transformed the setting to that of an early morning hundreds of years ago. Peaceful, quiet, birds chirping in the distance. I was uninterrupted and free of distractions when appreciating the cathedral in all its beauty.Ā
To make my morning better. I faintly heard brushing against the ground in the distance. I look over to see a shop owner sweeping the front area of her store. Something I imagined you could see and hear even hundreds of years ago. I sat for hours and watched asĀ the peaceful 15th century morning transcendedĀ into aĀ bustling 21st century lunch time. Tours would come and go.Ā Markets set up, bicycles streaming by and taxis being called. In one morning youāre almost able to see all this city and cathedral haveĀ experienced. None being greater than another...just adjusting to the time as beautifully as the Cathedral of Barcelona has aged.Ā
