I am specifically interested in exploring the extremes of human emotion: pain, repulsion, euphoria, and lust. I express these feelings through evocative creatures and provocative objects. Although I am representing poignant emotions, it is not important for my work to be realistic or expressly convey those feelings. My aim is not to create exact replicas of my subject matter, a cactus, an eel, a ponytail, etc. There is a graphic quality to my work that hints back to the comic books I look at. My jewelry becomes honest in the act of being worn. By pinning a weeping sore or a fat leech to your clothing you are revealing an aspect of your persona, allowing the world to catch a glimpse of your anxiety, instability, or twisted perversions. Just because the objects I create are unrealistic does not mean they are not real.
