Past Work - Measurement of improvement, 2019

First of all, hello! Thanks for stopping by.
As the title of this project suggests, this was an experimental project. There you go!

I came across a project by a popular RETOKA who's done a lot with line distortion & has interpreted the technique in his own way. I said to Retoka that I was inspired to revisit this style having tried it myself on a YouTube tutorial blast ages ago when I first started out and was interested in this technique - never really bothered doing much with it though.
So I knew I wanted to do something with line distortion but by add my own interpretation of it. So went ahead manipulating, toning, distorting, glitching & destroying perfectly fine portraits... That's part of what I do ;)
You can see the lines 'wrapped' around the face, or 'displaced' depending on the information of the face
I even had the blessing using one of Clay Moss' photos that stood out to me in his stories. Thanks again Clay.
Layers and layers of distortion and glitching resulted in this purple'ish red'ish 'aura' given off by the model. You can see the lines react strongly to her (houndstooth?) patterned jacket
This was for the most part quite fun, especially working with someones photo as opposed to just using stock photos, as its what I quite enjoy. Collab'n'dat. Though I realised that I could apply this to a circle-type of line pattern in a similar way...
But I was starting to get a bit bored, I felt like it was repetitive. I figured I could apply the same technique in a different way, to different objects using the same principle... then stuff happened...
Add astro-photography as per-usual...
For this one, and some of the others in this project, I learned to and had a go at colouring black and white portraits. Mainly because I liked the photo but was curious to what it would be like in colour.
Hopefully you see the gradual progression in experimentation, taking something I've seen and tried to learn from it and add my own interpretation. I'd say this was a success, where enjoyment, learning and practice was the success factor. Now to see how some of these could look printed... aka mockups.
What do you think?
Thanks for reading. Would appreciate, any appreciations :P
