Redesigning soft goods

  • Soft Goods Redesign
For this project I chose to redesign a canvas tote bag. I stayed remained by using the same material but dyed its color to navy blue, in which case it suits both women and men. I expanded the usage of the tote bag from for grocery shopping to for school use as well.
  • Changes that i made:
    1. I added a long piece of card board on the bottom part of the bag to have a more rigid rectangular structure in order to support better, and to let the bag stay in its better shape when it stands alone as well.
    2. I added more pockets on both the outside and the inside of the bag.
    3. In order to let the bottles sits stably inside the bag, i added several pieces of fabric with velcro attach to one side, and another velcro on the other side of the bag itself to create a limited space to lock the object. Also the object  looks more organized inside the bag. And it would be easier for the user to find object in the bag.
  • The bag could be folded into a smaller Ipad carrier. And locked by velcro on the side of the bag.
  • Front view of the bag after it expands.
  • Photos of the end user using the bag.
  • Smaller pockets for phones, card case, pens, etc.
