Star Wars AT-AT Walker Takedown

The second print I created for The Bottleneck Gallery's Gadgets & Gizmos show was an 17x11" depiction of a AT-AT Walker takedown from Empire Strike Back, showcasing the bleak but beautiful Hoth terrain and the moment right before the Empire's most formidable land vehicle is tripped up by a skillful snowspeeder.
The Empire Strikes Back is a perfect movie.  The opening scene on Hoth is all-time! Don't even get me started on tauntauns.  When I was a kid, I hyperventilated at Toys-R-Us when I came upon the toys, a towering stack of giant boxes.  Epic stuff.  Still gives me the chills.
I ended up creating a skeleton AT-AT in Photoshop, everything on layers, joints and all, so I could find the right walking leg position. This seemed pretty good. Wish I could animate it a bit, add in some sound effects, creak, smash, creak, smash...
Doing this piece was so satisfying, I'd never done such a mechanical piece before. really enjoyed it.  Got my synapses firing too, going to do an extra widescreen, extended Hoth battle one day....
Go Snowspeeder, GO!
