BIOCYCLE: Zero-Waste Webstore

Biocycle is a web store designed to provide high-performance natural products that are safe and sustainable. From apparel to furniture, everything is made entirely using bio-materials like mushroom mycelium, kombucha, and other agricultural byproducts. After use, the products are fully compostable, and can be disposed without creating any waste.

I envisioned and prototyped this website, after being inspired by a class I am taking called Biodesign. My process involved initial research and problem-framing, developing wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes. User-testing is still in action.

PROCESS

RESEARCH

Enough plastic is thrown away each year to circle the Earth four times. Americans throw away 35 billion plastic bottles every year. Only 25% of this plastic is recycled. In 2014, over 16 million tons of textile waste was generated, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Out of which, 10.46 million tons were sent to the landfill. An average American throws away approximately 80 pounds of used clothing per person per year.

IDEATION

Flow - a simple flow enables the user to explore the website in a few taps to reach their desired destination.
Wireframing - concept sketches of the home page, about page and shopping page. This helps in deciding the basic elements on the page at the start of the design process.
PROTOTYPING
Navigation - understandable navigation using subtle buttons and colors helps the user to quickly reach point B from point A.
Onboarding - helps prepare user for the shopping experience by providing a variety of options to choose from.
USER TESTING

Feedback - still in action! This is a work-in-progress.
