The base shape of the object was the result of a lot of research. I studied the different base shapes of the butellas, butelias, jugs, decanters in our folk arts. The butellas and butelias have been mainly used for schnaps (palinka) storage. The main difference between the two that the butellas made of ceramic while the butelias made of glass. The decorative design on the objects was created either by painting or etching. It was usually a pattern or a saying. The pattern I chose is a part of the lace-work of Hövej.
The world of Hövejs motif evolved in the 19. Century. The lace pattern brought back the fields and forests which surrounded the village displaying weath, sun, wildflower bouquet inspired simplified motifs. The lace was webbed to a white or transparent organza material.
I chose this pattern of a personal reason, as someone who lives in the village. It’s very important to me to keep our folk art from disappearing with time.
 Thanks for watching
