An assignment and SASOL competition aiming to teach the second year Industrial design students of 2016 about the capabilities of rotation moulding. The competition pushed the students to better understand the material and production process at hand as well as to gain a better understanding for the process limitations.
Below are hand sketches of product exploration and ideation for the given breif.
The three chosen ideas to research further, there after choosing the final direction and developing further.
The final product is a rotation moulded dumbell for businessmen who often find themselves traveling or unable to attend gym. The dumbell is filled with water or if available/required sand, allowing for the user to increase and reduce the weight as needed. Different shapes were explored while looking at the ergonomics of one's hand.
