Human Nature Lab at Yale University

Human Nature Lab at Yale University
A busy lab simplifies how they organize and present their research.
The Problem
The Human Nature Lab is a prestigious lab that wasn't well-represented by its existing website. There were actually two websites, one for the lab and one for the head of the lab that had a lot of overlapping and duplicate content. This made the content difficult to manage, and hurts the SEO of both sites.

They also didn't have a good process for updating content, and updating the site was difficult to manage. They have a number of publications that they wanted to keep on their website, but the relationship between the publications, the researchers, and their areas of study were all managed manually.
The Solution
We worked with the team to come up with a way to combine the contents of both sites into a single site, and organize the publications and researchers in a way that would allow those relationships to exist dynamically in the system, rather than independently.
We moved them from WordPress to Craft CMS which has a more customizable user-interface and allows for more custom dynamic relationships between content. This allowed us to connect the researchers to their research and both to the lab's areas of study.
We used long scrolling pages to get a lot of content into a single section, simplifying the overall layout. We also incorporated many videos and animations into the site to give it some life and demonstrate the constant movement of the lab and its members.
