The project is to expand and renovate a partially detached house, situated in the town of Montreuil.
The initial program for the family of two musicians and a child was to modernize the house.
After a few sketches, it became apparent that only partial renovations to the house were needed, leaving intact the structure and stairs, while enlarging the existing garage.
The extension is on two levels and provides the home with a loop circulation system.
To achieve a fluidity of movement, the existing facade was extended to include a small landing outside.
The different sketches changed the extension’s facade and its relationship to the street.
The adopted solution has three glazed frames oriented differently. The result allows open views and creates a new bay window in response to the existing bay.
This dialogue between the new and the existing facades begins a new relationship between the house and the yard.
