Vertical Planter

Concept work for a breakout area in UCD Smurfit Business School, Dublin. The breakout area is used by students for group work and discussions.
The health benefits of bringing natural plants into the area were discussed. I have seen vertical planters in outdoor locations and incorporated within signage, such as at Galeries Lafayette and Moyo salon (above). I discussed potential challenges (watering, maintenance) of an indoor a vertical planter with Giulia Carnevari. We looked at what companies including Garden On The Wall achieve through preserved plants.
I proposed a simple square design, a wooden-framed vertical planter in two sections: one filled with plants and mosses, the other, empty with a single colour.
For the design, I worked in Fusion 360 to work out dimensions and materials. To test how plants might be laid out, I imported tropical shrubs and hedges made by Hugues Muller. In the final step, the imported meshes were textured and positioned in Fusion before rendering.
