Musicsota: Curating Artists and Music From the North Star State
The goal with this logo was to convey the idea of music from Minnesota. I focused on using the state bird, the common loon, as it has an iconic profile (the long neck with collar as well as a long beak). I played around with a bass clef combined with a loon but the client and I ended up going with a quarter note that not only incorporates a loon, but the head of the loon is also meant to emulate the northern border of Minnesota.
The logos seen here are the primary marks used in public facing representation. The first is currently in use on the account.
These marks were created as an alternative design and also to provide some visual variety to the way the logo could be presented without losing the message. They were created to mimic the silhouette of a common loon, the state bird of Minnesota.
These last designs were created for special opportunities and to show flexibility with the logo, namely with the outlines for specific marketing goals and for use with alternative media. The plaid logo was created to demonstrate the mark's ability to have different colors and patterns applied without losing its recognizable silhoute
