I was commissioned by The New York Times to create an illustration for an article of the Book Review Section about the correlation between high school social structure and the characters of modern YA novels.
My idea was to merge the topics of this article in one “scene”. In the cafeteria the students became characters of the YA novels they like to read, the crowns and the attitude clash with the settings of a normal school place.
I also animated the illustration for the NYT app, just adding more personality to the character of the queen.
