The challenge was to design a lightweight, portable, single-foot scooter.
The scooter had to have two wheels, a telescopic handle and be small enough to carry in a mid-sized handbag.
The greatest part of the challenge was to find a way to make a deck small enough to fit in a handbag and being easy to assemble.
I eventually generated this concept of a deck which measures twenty inches at full length, but only 10 inches when folded which allows it to comfortably fit in a bag.
Based on the requirements for a lightweight product, I would expect the main components to be cast using a material with good specific strength, specific stiffness and one that allows for a smooth surface finish such as an alloy of Aluminium.
