THE LENS OF LIFE | A short thought

THE LENS OF LIFE
I always love film camera for one reason - they can print our pictures out right after they've been taken. The picture is no longer bits of pixels that sits still in digital cameras, but comes out to life and lives.

We love to capture the moment and keep it for the good memory or for the sake of art. But what we snapped in that moment later become bits and bytes, turned from the real world scenes to boring virtual data. We store them in our computers, in our phones, share to our friends and family, post it on Facebook or Instagram, glamorously, and a short time later we forget them. We are still busy editing our new photos for the new Instagram posts.

The camera is meant to capture the moment, but we are living faster and faster with the overwhelming flow of information nowadays. We urge ourselves to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and post new status frequently.

But we cannot do the same things with the film camera. The responding time a film camera needs to process an image is much longer than a digital one. We need to be careful and selective with every single pictures because films cost a considerable amount of money. We cannot share the pictures instantly to social media. We cannot apply any additional filter to the photos, they remains original like they should be in the first place.

So we wait. For the moments we love. And watch life slowly flows in front of the eyes with no intention of updating any new status.
