What a Relief!
'Print is dead,' said the naive fellow blinded by the anxiety of the digital age.
In this age of vectors and digital illustrations, we got our hands dirty and delved into the world of relief printing. We were fortunate to feel the rigour, smell the ink, break a sweat, connect to our work and weave a beautiful story. As part of an elective, we created these postcards to celebrate the idea of 'Printism'.
The beauty of print lies in it's imperfection & tactility which breathes life into a piece of paper or artwork. These postcards act as a conversation starter amongst print enthusiasts and practitioners alike.
Besides the output, this project was an amalgamation of varying tools and techniques which makes the process rather sensational.
The process incorporated diverse techniques such as carving linoleum, hot metal typesetting, letterpress printing, laser cutting (MDF) and screen printing for the rear side of the postcard, thus making it a product of true rigour.
