The brief was to upcycle tyres and create awareness for the tyre recycling problem in Ireland today. To create the most public awareness we decided creating something in a public place would be best. After studing Dublin city our selfs we decided the city had problems with overcrowding of bikes and
decay in unfriendly urban spaces.
Current products made from recycled tyres do not use the valuable properties of tyre
rubber to their full potential. As it is extremely durable, waterproof and thermally
insulating, tyre rubber is ideal for use in an outdoor urban environment. STAY utilises
these properties to create multifunctional and social street furniture, while at the same
time increasing public awareness of tyre upcycling.
