For a story featuring a house made of sweets, Hansel & Gretel is actually very dark. I wanted to express a bit of that dark and gritty quality of it in the drawing. The repetition of white guiding factors (white stones, white birds, and more) in the tale was also very interesting to me, so I wanted to include some aspect of them as well.
