IBK hopes you enjoy the journey with my first submission entitled 'Dot, dot, dot...'

If the rhino goes extinct it would have been reduced to a blip in universe’s existence and nothing but a mere speck in the history of evolution or life within our very own planet. Therefore the dots within a pointillist motif materialise this critically endangered existence, which is again exhibited through the flower of life pattern enveloping the rhinoceros in a tinted gold wrapper to expose how commodities have more value than living. How greed like a molten aurous epidemic sheathe tarnishes life, and disguises exploitation for sport to harvest alleged aphrodisiac/medicinal properties that are later crushed into a luxury gift. The floral arrangement and the solid gold horn then indicate how we can put a price on the life of an animal, and how a few turn a blind eye to the cruelty amid to trophy hunting which fuels the illegal trade of a muti under false pretences. A frivolous and vicious practice which has been debunked in several instances, since the same compound found in rhino horn can be sourced from your very own fingertips and other malice free alternatives such as digitally printed 3D horns.
In addition, the vivid and lively atom-like spots thus represent positive initiatives such as StopRhinoPoaching, The Rhinos Are Coming, its participating artists, volunteers and the inquisitive audience come together to support life, survival, conservation and to persevere against the smuggling of our most precious resource, a diverse ecosystem bursting with wildlife.

An active choice was made to employ Georges Seurat and Paul Signac’s pointillist method, although initially in 1886 it was mocked for its simplicity and embryonically child-like modus operandi similar to finger-painting. Reminiscent of Pablo Picasso's quote “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child”, IBK’s flair unequivocally attempts to portray this pure and righteous cause echoing through a child's eyes, imagery and skill. The pure, virtuous and free with true vision are qualities associated with children and synonymous to The Rhinos are Coming initiative. Comparatively, while the survival of a species should be simple, obvious and not even a question to pose, trumping an illegal lucrative venture might take a lifetime to learn and execute. Furthermore, the latent existence of the same compound present in rhino horn and in our own fingertips only emphasises evolutionary ties interconnecting all living things and justifies using finger-painting, a pointillist technique and the flower of life theme to wrap the rhino in a relevant conceptual nutshell. These words and campaign could not come at a most fitting time due to recent events. The selection of the flower of life seems relevantly apt, since the last Northern White Rhino was put down on 20th March 2018 due to health complications and only two females remain for the brief
future of this particular subspecies.

Lastly since nowadays authorship, recognition and individualism are key and no artwork would be finished without an authored certification, I chose to finalise my piece in the true sense of IBK’s representative niche. Camouflaged inside the composition a concealed inscription of my pseudonym subtly spells itself out with darker coloured dots (somewhere on the sculpture, probably its posterior) without breaking the overall flower pattern.

This design is highly cost effective, as it mainly uses acrylic paint to accomplish a complex scheme, as well as interactive towards the audience who can choose to look for the artist’s signature within the pointillist motif.
