“My name is…”
For many International students like me, this simple self-introduction becomes a choice. Whether to say my name in native language or another English name. The original name is given by families, caring the hope and wish of parents. Yet in another language environment, language barrier reduces the weight of this name to a sound. An English name is a choice made by us. It can not only better fit into the environment , but also represents our own expectations. However, this English name makes our original name even more invisible, and disconnect part of us from our native culture. Therefore, which name to say? On this forever ongoing journey, how do we see our past, present, and future?
