FOCO IN CENA
Art, collection and memory
The experience of photographer Guto Muniz in the most diverse spaces and spectacles, with countless companies and in dozens of important festivals made of his work much more than a simple collection of beautiful images. The collection of Guto consolidates itself in the construction of a historical document, of great relevance for the study, research and development of artistic languages. The result of this understanding is Foco in Cena: a digital space capable of hosting all of his works, allowing the general public direct access to the largest virtual catalog of performing arts in Brazil.
We were honored with the challenge of building the channels necessary for this very important project to reach the publics eyes. We created the project brand, the institutional stationery, its publicity pieces and, of course, the digital environment, the centerpiece of the project. Through much research, we unite the most daring design and technology could offer, elevating the project to its place of merit: a must visit for anyone interested in the national and international performing arts.
Performing Arts + Photography
Our goal was to create a strong and attractive brand, of universal application, that would concentrate the conceptual essence of Foco in Cena. Keeping in mind the two great universes that are united through the project - the performing arts and photography, we deepen our research on the references that these two fields evoke in people. What we collect form the basis for our creation and for the brand concepts.
The logo was created from an organic mosaic, in which we used a symbol very representative of the theater: the mask. This object is and always has been a metaphor for the incarnation of the character. A person wearing a mask is always, in one way or another, playing a role. The multiplicity of forms exists in the logo to avoid monotony, making it clear that theater is a multiple, profuse art with innumerable variations of styles, characters, representations and references. The composition of the elements also evokes the concept of "collection", final function of the project.
Design + Technology
The website applies a graphic system that responds to the peculiar need to present images and photographs without clipping or distortion, as well as a wide variety of content formats. The website also has audio, video and graphics records, making the immersion experience complete. The layout was divided into seven equal columns, and its technology system sets the scale and applies the visual hierarchy automatically. The content within each column is limited to a fixed width, but is left to show at any height necessary to the original proportion of the photograph. Thus we create a variety of unexpected vertical compositions throughout the user experience, which create a unique and personalized look.
Innovation was not only due to the graphic design, but presents its best form behind the scenes. A sophisticated CMS system was developed for the project that integrates information from Adobe Lightroom® software, which is an integral manager of the photographic workflow. The entire archive of more than 30,000 photos is managed through the software: hierarchies, subtitles, categories, services, synopses, rankings and more, automating processes and reducing manual work to the bare minimum.
