Food Photography, Lighting Final Spring 2019
The sweet smell of Mom’s chocolate chip cookies emanates from the kitchen. You can hear the loud sound of the mixer churning as you rush downstairs to sneak a scoop of cookie dough before they all make their way into the oven. Everyone has a sweet tooth. Whether they’re a chocolate lover, favor fruity treats, or fall somewhere in between, we all have our tastes. This series focuses on baked goods and the comfort we find in a good dessert. Through styled overhead shots and crumbly close-ups, I aim to explore food as a subject for the first time in my artistic practice. Various lighting setups help to develop my studio skills while evoking a range of moods in the photographs.
