Railroad Safety
Interactive installation for railroad museum illustrating general principles of railroad safety. Level crossing with authentic 1960’s barrier and traffic signaling placed in front of diesel locomotive. Every half an hour (according to schedule), train virtually passes the level crossing. Four-channel spatial sound system imitates movement of the train and car traffic. Original barrier control system integrated with modern one based on Siemens Simatic PLC. Two powerful stage effects blowers were used to emphases effect of passing train. FANs are synchronized with sound and runs sequentially.
Installation runs on schedule programmed in PLC and has an ability of on demand start via guide tablet. Web-based museum control system, which runs on dedicated main control server, sends commands directly to PLC via TCP/IP connection.
