SITEDESCRIPTION
Thecurrent shopping mall is located on the west side of Madison adjacent highways12 and 18.  This 135 acre site wasconstructed in the 1960's to be a regional shopping center.  The current site only caters to vehicleusers.  There are surround residentialcommunities, but is almost impossible to access the site by foot.  The majority of the land is concrete forparking lots and commercial buildings. The mall lacks connectivity due toparking lots and the large amount of vehicle use.
 
PROJECTOVERVIEW
Thepurpose of this project was to redevelop this greyfield to create a moreliveable community.  The new developmentincludes mix-use developments, transit oriented design and open green space.  Some of the Landscape Architecture practicesthat were used include: Smart Growth, Complete Streets and StormwaterManagement.
