MX Shelving
Awarded a Silver Pin at the New Zealand Designer's Institute Best Awards
This project is an exploration into shelving system design, a highly modular system which could be customised and adapted for various environments. The system itself reflects a celebration of sheet metal and the fabrication process. The pattern on the side panels is a prominent visual element and forms the rails for the shelves, a part of shelving which is often overlooked and hidden away. Instead here it is celebrated, without sacrificing modularity.

It is a product which becomes a durable, adaptable storage and display system, minimising its effect on the environment by being useful for as long as possible. The system can easily be re-purposed or re-organised in the future to change to the needs of the user. Being shared or sold on and re-used increases the lifespan of the product and keeps it away from waste streams for as long as possible, increasing it’s sustainability through the principals of circular design.
Included in ‘Made to be made again’, an exhibition held at Victoria University, June 2019.
