Alumni Columns Magazine - Fall 2019
The Alumni Columns is the official magazine of Northwestern State University and is delivered quarterly to current members of the NSU Alumni Association.
OVERVIEW — Since 1938, “The Columns” has been released on a regular basis to eager NSU alumni. This alumni magazine has kept past graduates of NSU in touch with news about current and alumni students making an impact both locally and internationally.
THE CHALLENGE — While the format stays consistent, new photos, editorials, and content needs to be placed into the magazine to capture the events of the previous year. In preparation for the Fall 2019 issue, I worked closely with our Media Relations department, the NSU Alumni Foundation, and other on-campus entities to proof, design, and execute the layout of the editorials and other graphics featured in the magazine.

MY ROLE — Publication Design, Page Design, Print Production (Pre-flight)
THE SOLUTION — Each issue is run through a multi-step proofing process to check the validity of the content. Once we have verified the information and the design is finalized, we send final files to our off-site printing vendor, where the magazines were printed and mailed directly from their facilities.

This cross-campus collaboration resulted in 49,671 magazines being shipped across the
Continental United States to alumni of the university.
