LOGOS project

by  Márcio Paranhos
Support | Universidade do Minho & LCD - Laboratório de Criação Digital | 2012

Project developed as a Master Thesis in Digital Art at University of Minho
“Joints are at once a unitary whole and not a unitary whole. To be in agreement is to differ, to concord-ant is the discord-ant. From many things comes oneness, and out of oneness come the many things.”

Heraclitus
"Logos" is the word used by a pre-Socratic Greek philosopher named Heraclitus, defining the principle which gives the cosmic order and rationality to the world. For Heraclitus, the universe is in constant flux, constantly changing, making the reality a merely succession of temporary states.

In a physical approach, "Logos" is represented by a light sculpture that will react to different elements of the space. In a minimal space and filled with uncertainty, the elements interact with each other, seeking to understand the scope and extend the constant flow in the viewer's perception, which is understood as a key element of the moment.
Presentation of the project, exhibited during the Semibreve festival, in Braga.
