Eclipse Blades Branding

Eclipse Blades is an invented company created to practice branding. The company itself works on newly forged blades to compete with larger name brands for fencing. This book is the summary of a long term project that transformed from the invention of the brand, through icon design and planning through marketing and physical item distribution.

Within the sport of fencing, not too many brands compete with each other, and the hierarchy of quality is fairly obvious to the seasoned eye. As someone with this knowledge, I created Eclipse Blades to challenge the quality/cost relations controlled by the current leading sellers.
Below are some of the pages that showcase how I achieved creating EB's public image.
As stated earlier, I tested out ideas to show how the brand would expand into the way they packaged items. It is uncommon for a fencer to go to the forge, and while many people buy in person at vendors who host during competitions, the vast majority of purchased blades are made online. Packaging is a key component, however bland of an idea it can be. Keeping costs low while gaining advertising space was a critical balance, and a few versions were mocked up to test them out.
This was the first iteration of boxes, assembled quickly to see just how odd it would be to design on such a long and narrow surface. The sublogo EB was designed to fit on the very small edge of the blades, and worked to fit naturally on the less spacious areas. A few more mock ups were made afterwards using Adobe Dimension, including the interior tubing that would be inside the box.
