For my Digital Layout class, our first assignment was to create some postcards showcasing exhibits at the local World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial.
For this design I chose a current exhibit on display at the museum: The Inter-Allied Games:WWI All-Stars. I wanted to go for a more retro feel to capture the eye of sports fans that were in town when this exhibit opened during the 2012 MLB All-Star Game. I also chose the stripes to give a feeling of old baseball uniforms that were very basic and visually stunning.
For the back I chose to add a relief of the museum to tie in the location. It is very reminiscent of architecture during that time and adds to the old time feel. Also, I kept room for the mailing info and postage.
For this exhibit, I chose to make up an exhibit called Over There: Americans in the Great War. It centers on Americans during WWI and I used a full bleed image of the war for the front. I wanted to keep it clean and orderly so I only added very little accent color on the front to make the image pop more and to be a subtle nod to the blood spilled in the war.
On the back I, again, wanted to keep it clean and organized so I used a strict grid layout. I centered the information on the left and justified the keep with the clean look. I added red to the logo to tie in the accent color on the front.
