  • This selection of paintings from my Junior Painting IV studio at the Rhode Island School of Design presents a number of investigative figurative paintings. In making these, I explored numerous surface techniques and ways of painting by utilizing new methods and materials. This semester, I focused on using both oil and acrylic paints. To do so I would "set up" my paintings in acrylic in order to take advantage of its versatility but would then finish the paintings using oil paint. In doing so, I was able to benefit from the strengths of both acrylic and oil paints while being mindful of the painting rule "fat over lean."
