As a Rwandese person born in Zaire (now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo), I was spared the tragedy of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. However, living in London, I became deeply interested in understanding the events and motivations behind such a devastating event. I immersed myself in books and documentaries, but the horrors and violence depicted left me feeling overwhelmed and grief-stricken. Through this creative outlet, I found a sense of renewal and hope, turning my grief into something positive and meaningful.
