Big Yellow Taxi
A reference to chopping down trees to cater to modernity. The silhouette of a tree cut from a repeated pattern of Forget-me-nots and then adhered to a packing box. The use of the box with its packing tape and Heavy and Fragile labels acknowledges the topic at hand, that our environmental issues are big, that they should be unpacked and dealt with, considering the fragile nature we live in.
This piece was fun to create and received an Honourable Mention at the Birchalls Tertiary Art Prize 2014.
