THINK BIG GOES A LONG WAY
THINK BIG GOES A LONG WAY
At least no one can say I can not design for the body builders from Venice Beach, California to the average person.
It was a great challenge and the most wonderful full-filing experience to work with serious body builders such as GOLD' S GYM. IT was a great honor to be chosen to launch their own street-wear and gym collection in 1993. It was during the Olympics so the collection was based on the International Fitness Collection and Euro Body.
I started a huge trend in 1993 by adding light-weight stretch mesh as insert panels at waist, thighs, and shoulder blades. This added a sexy, but still sporty look to the collection. These sheer panels and inserts emphasis the correct parts of the body, that most body-builders and athletes focus on building.
I introduced gold metallic computer embroideries and interesting graphic, as well as bringing in old concepts seen only in street wear but never in a gym- Marble tie-dyed fleece and mesh. The doubled layered mesh short was my signature to fame and introducing lingerie seams into sport bras.
This collection did become a great success and from here opened up a huge demand for more fashion but extreme high performance sports and active wear. I am proud to have been one of the first on the scene.
