Project Description
The kitchen design project was completed in a hand drafting class. The goal of the project was to learn the basics of hand drafting, drawing conventions, and how to research and understand design codes. I also learned to draw in one-point and two-point perspective, along with the basics of rendering using watercolor. This project was chosen to be part of the 2018 CIDA accreditation.
Design Concept
The overall design was inspired by the beach and coastal design style. Wood cabinets provide a sense of tradition and light oak provides a refreshing contrast to the blue backsplash. The whole color scheme focuses on a countertop that is made with recycled glass from blue and green glass bottles. Functionally, the design provides adequate space for visitors and for work at the sink and stove. Finally, the open shelving allows the residents to display décor without making the room feel small.
