Self-Portraits Composition

EFS Drawing Final (Fall 2018)

This specific assignment stemmed from an example shown in class which was situated in the same location. I decided to challenge myself by superimposing four different version of myself into the space. I used my DSLR to create specific compositions and merged them together to make sure there were no conflicting regions of light. After this, I created gestural sketches of the poses that I would be standing in by observing in a mirror. Afterwards I translated the sketches roughly (to scale) onto the 50" by 76" Stonehenge Paper. I grounded the paper with charcoal powder to achieve the slightly grey color of the back wall and built up from there. This piece took a total of 16 hours to complete.
