Three-Dimensional Design: Sculpey Mask
The aim of this project was to create a mask that explores the possibilities of the three-dimensional contrast in form. I decided to create a mask that would show 'Horizontal/Vertical' contrast.
The biggest challenge was fully understand a deeper meaning of the contrast and bring up a different approach. At the end, I decided to create a mask with horizontal lines made of clay and vertical lines made of wire. I thought that would make an interesting point to the viewer. While the clay lines go through the whole mask, the wire lines go only through the opening for eyes. The project went through different stages such as Sculpey Tile Experiments, Sculpey Mask Drawings, etc.
Early Stages: Sculpey Tile Experiments (Left to Right: Horizontal/Vertical, Expected/Unexpected, Unity/Conflict, Dominant/Subordinant, Many/Few, Smooth/Rough)
Final Stage: Sculpey Mask Photo Shoot
