Pie Day
March 14th is known as Pi day. We’re big nerds here at BMG, so of course we are all about National Pi Day. We’re also about puns. Don’t judge 😂


This year, we busted out all the stops and are eating nothing but pie! A food that celebrates 3.14 in all its glory. It was so much work but totally worth it. 🥧 🥧 ⠀

The savory pie is a bison game pie with red wine gravy and a sour cream crust. Bison steak courtesy of @NorthBuffaloRanch. The dessert pie is a lemon blueberry pie and utilizes the same crust. ⠀

First I created my pie dough and allowed it to chill as I prepared my first filling, the savory Bison Steak Pie with red wine reduction.

Then I rolled my pie dough as the filling cooled in the freezer. Hot filling = melted pie dough.

Once the dough was rolled it rested for 10 min in the freezer as I designed the lettering I was going to utilize in Adobe Illustrator. After the design was complete I cut it out on card stock using my Cricut.

I took the card stock cutout and carefully layered flour over the cardstock and removed it to create my first image. Then I cut the cold dough from my design using a sharp knife and used an egg wash and milk mixture (1:1 ratio) to stick the design to the completed uncooked pie.

Next, I baked and enjoyed! Delish!
