Pen Drawing
Highschool Senior Year

This was  pen drawing done for my highschool art class without a specific prompt.
I usually start off with some random doodles and no specific planning.
I don't know what the final piece is gonna look like at this point.
My choice of tool is the 'Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Pen' as its accuracy allows me to express thin lines, and small details. Since the tip is really sharp, it is also good for expressing scratches or rough textures, but can be less effective to draw fluidly.

Note to myself: "care not to smudge the ink when I erase the pencil marks underneath later."
Although using white-out is not ideal, sometimes it is inevitable, as the piece is underdone in pen and without too much planning.
I used white-out not only to correct, but also to express liquid like effects or shining surfaces.
I make sure the whited-out parts are not visible by the end of the piece.
Thinking about what my next step should be.
Poured honey on a silver bowl to study how honey drips or reflects light.
Creating a world on a canvas and using that world to tell a story is one of the great joys in doing large-scale pen doodles.
The overall composition of the piece is beginning to show.
I apologize for the big jumps in between the progress pics.
A lot of times I forget to take photos as I work because I am too focused drawing.
It is fine to just absorb the overall mood of the piece but I hope some viewers of my artwork will have fun zooming in looking for interesting details.
I enjoy adding small details that can be overseen, but when noticed, can enrich the storytelling within my artwork.
All the small details come together in the final piece to become part of the atmosphere and 'vibe' of the world within the canvas.
This is the finished piece.
The piece is titled: I Am Not an Ant
This is I Am Not an Ant along some other works displayed in my highschool art show.
